Col. James "Rhodey" Rhodes (a.k.a. War Machine) (performed by Terrence Howard, later Don Cheadle) is Tony Stark's best friend who is well aware of what he is doing and an officer of the US Armed Forces. He is Iron Man's partner as War Machine and one of the founding members of the New Avengers.

Rhodey, like Tony, has no powers but has the impressive massive firepower of War Machine. He is also a trained military officer to add to his armor's capabilities, making him a force to be reckoned with.
War Machine possesses a variety of heavy weapons and firepower combat suit, which derives from the Mark II armor. It has an arsenal of heavy guns and missiles to do the job of taking out foes at long range.
