Peppy Hare is a hare who is a member of the original Star Fox team, with leader James McCloud and wingmate Pigma Dengar. After Pigma's betrayal and James' capture, Peppy narrowly escapes to return to Corneria to inform Fox McCloud of his father's fate. Ever since then, Peppy serves as Fox's mentor and frequently gives Fox instructions and advice throughout the course of the games. One of Peppy's famous phrases from Star Fox 64, "Do a barrel roll!", has become a popular internet phenomenon, and is spoken on several internet forums and was tributed in November 2011 by Google by making the user's web browser "do a barrel roll" when the user types in "do a barrel roll" or "z or r twice" on Google.
According to Star Fox Command, he has a daughter Lucy and is the widower of his wife Vivian. He eventually retires from flight duty, taking up a post in the Great Fox. Also according to Command, Peppy is eventually made General of the Cornerian army, after Pepper grows ill.
Peppy has been voiced by Tomohisa Asō in the Japanese versions of the series except Star Fox 64 3D, and Kunpei Sakamoto in the Japanese version of Star Fox 64 3D. Isaac Marshall voiced him in the English version of Star Fox 64, Chris Seavor in Star Fox Adventures and the English version of Super Smash Bros. Melee, Henry Dardenne in the English version of Assault, and Dex Manley in the English version of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
