Melman the Giraffe (voiced by David Schwimmer) is one of the four main protagonists of Jaden goes to Madagascar. He's very nervous about everything, but mostly his health. When, Marty the Zebra left the Central Park Zoo to try to get to the wild, Melman and the others went out to find him, only to get caught by Animal Control, and be sent on a zoo transfer. He and his friends end up being washed on the shores of Madagascar, and at first, he was panicking frequently about being in the wild, but finally calmed down with the help of Marty.

• Melman will appear again in Jaden's Adventures of Madagascar 2, where he tries to win the heart of Gloria.
• Melman will appear again in Jaden's Adventures of Madagascar 3.
• Melman will meet Jeffrey and his team in Jeffrey & Friends go to Madagascar.
