Hubie (voiced by Martin Short) is the main protagonist of The Pebble & the Penguin. He is a shy penguin who is in love with a female penguin named Marina. After discovering a special pebble, Hubie tries giving it to her. But the evil penguin Drake wanted Marina for himself and tries getting rid of Hubie. He gets lost after escaping a leopard seal. Hubie is later saved by humans who would sell penguins to zoos. But with help from Rocko the Rockhopper, he escapes and makes a long journey back home. He soon returns to defeat Drake and marries Marina.
