Harlock (Once voiced by Makio Inoune in Japan and Scott McNeil in English, now voiced by Shun Orguri inJapan and David Matranga in English) is the main hero of the show and the movie of the same name and captain of the pirate ship, Arcadia.

Much about Harlock's early life is unknown, but what is known he is a captain of a Deathshadow Martyr Fleet by the newly formed Gaia Sanction to keep most of humanity out of Earth cause the Sanction believe to be a holy sanctuary and forbid everyone from repopulating the planet and only the elite members can return to Earth. Enraged that the Coalition turn back on their words, Harlock turn against his superiors and launch a rebellion, but Harlock was outmatched and his engineer friend,Tochiro Oyama, who help save a dying alien race from extinction and the aliens use their knowledge of Dark Matter technology to make engines for the ship, was mortally wounded in the attack. Harlock also loss an eye in the process. He soon realize that his ship have a fail-safe and ordered his Observer and Engineer Miime to unleash the Dark-Matter and form a layer around Earth. If the Gaia Coalition won't allow the Outcast to return to Earth, when nobody can. Harlock's act of unleashing the Dark Matter works, but it forever chance Harlock, making him immortal. Tochiro became the ships central computer his Observer became eternarly bound to the ship and Harlock and the ship became his flagship, the Arcadia.

Harlock is a self-made man and sees the corruption of the Giaia Coalition. He also fears in combat and deeply loyal to his crew members.

Harlock mean weapon is a sword which his use for close encounter and long range cause the tip of the sword have a barrel and the grip have a trigger. Harlock also use laser pistols in combat.
