Kanto

Kanto is a warrior of Apokolips and Darkseid's Master Assassin. Originally, Kanto was a man named Iluthin and was a student of Granny Goodness. During his training, he was accused of stealing weapons from the armory by his trainer, Kanto-13. Iluthin faced a trail by combat. Ultimately, Iluthin was victorious. However, for his punishment, Iluthin was exiled from Apokolips to live on Renaissance-era earth. During this time, Iluthin picked up many mannerism and traits of the era's earthlings. Iluthin became more Renaissance man than Apokolipian. He eventually fell in love with a woman named Claudia. However, Kanto-13 came after Iluthin and killed her on the wedding day. Iluthin and Kanto-13 fought, resulting in Kanto-13's defeat. Darkseid killed Kanto-13 as punishment for his weakness. Iluthin returned to Apokolips and became Darkseid's master assassin. He also took the name Kanto for himself.  

Kanto first re-appeared on earth centuries later when began supplying the Intergang with Apokolipian technology. Since then, Kanto has made himself an enemy of Superman and a general threat to all free from Darkseid's reign of terror.  Kanto generally holds himself with a gentlemanly and sophisticated air, having retained many behaviors from his time on Earth. He generally considers his brutal murders as works of art. Except for Darkseid himself, Kanto is unequaled as a strategist.
