Darth Sidious a.k.a. Emperor Sheev Palpatine (performed by Ian McDiarmid) is the main antagonist of the Star Wars franchise. He is The Dark Lord of the Sith who claimed that title after slaying his master, Darth Plagues The Wise. Sidious, as Palpatine, eventually became a Senator on Coruscant and then Supreme Chancellor. Palpatine was exposed by Anakin to Mace Windou, and fought him, he won Anakin's trust, and turned him to dark side. Sidious eventually reorganized The Republic into The Galactic Empire, thus becoming the Emperor. Sidious had three apprentices while active, Darth Maul, Darth Tyranus, and Darth Vader. He met his end when Vader threw him into a ravine in the second Death Star.
