???: I can’t do this!
(Ruby was running through the forest of the Origami Acre until she stops at a tree to catch her breath. She sits down at the base of the trunk with her head to her knees and her arms folded)
Little *pops out of Ruby’s hood* Ruby? Ruby?
Ruby: *looks up*
Little: *hops onto her knee* What are you doing? Why did you shout at everyone like that? Including Courtney?
(Ruby doesn’t say anything as she sighs and looks at her surroundings)
Ruby: Where… am I?
Little: It’s okay! I can guide us back. You shouldn’t run off though. You all need to stick together if you wanna go home.
Ruby: *sighs and has a scowling expression on her face* Why are you still here?
Little: *concerned for her* Uh… what? I promised.
Ruby: I promised to serve Atlas as a huntress… That I’d keep people safe… That I’d be there for my friends…
Little: But, we can go back and-
Ruby: No! *stands up as Little hops off her knee and to the ground* You don’t know what I’ve done. What I couldn’t do! I can’t do this! *punches the tree* I could never do this… If you stay with me, you’re going to end up dead too… Just… Go… Home…
Little: But, you’re-
Ruby: I SAID GO!
Little: *yelps and crawls away from her as they watch Ruby march away as their ears flop down in sadness*

Neo’s tea party[]

(Ruby walks through the forest. It begins to darken around her as she continues to walk. A glowing blue butterfly flutters past Ruby. As Ruby continues walking, a spotlight appears above her. Each spotlight shows Ruby walking slowly and much slower than the first two. She crosses the bridge between the Origami Acre and the Abandoned Acre. She arrives at a pink-colored extravagant manor. Everything goes dark. Another spotlight appears above Ruby again, but this time, Ruby is inside a room standing in front of a portrait of a family of three. The other portraits appear in few spotlights. The first two portraits depict Neo both as a child and adolescent, with her parents; Jimmy and Carmel Vanille. The other portrait depicts Neopolitan with Cinder standing right beside Salem’s throne. The other portrait depicts Neopolitan with Roman Torchwick with her parents lying on the ground, apparently dead)
Ruby: What is this?
(As Ruby stares at the portrait, Roman’s left eye moves to gaze at her direction)
Neo-Roman: Hello, Red!
Ruby: *gasps and brandishes Crescent Rose as she backs away from the portrait*
Neo-Roman: *stands up from his seat* Been a while. *jumps off from the trunk and casually walks* How’s the hero biz treatin’ ya? I gotta say, you’re not looking too good. *gives a kick at Jimmy’s corpse*
Ruby: Where’s Neo?
Neo-Roman: Yeesh, no manners. And after everyone came out to see you! *echoes*
(The lights begin to turn on in the room Ruby was in. Ruby turns around and becomes astonished to see certain people at the table: Penny Polendina, Pyrrha Nikos, Leonardo Lionheart, Clover Ebi, Ozpin, and General James Ironwood. Each of them has a cup of tea in front of them)
Neo-Penny: *saluting* Salutations, Ruby!
Neo-Pyrrha: *waving* Hello again!
(Neo-Lionheart is seen fiddling with his lion tail before he looks at Ruby and sits up straight. Neo-Clover adjusts his clover badge)
Neo-Ozpin: *adjusting his glasses* Miss Rose.
Neo-Ironwood: *smiling and gesturing* Why don’t you take a seat?
(Ruby looks on at the sight of the people she knew with horror)
Ruby: How is she doing this?
(Everyone at the table laugh at Ruby’s bewilderment)
Ruby: Stop it! This isn’t real!
Neo-Roman: Is it real?
(Ruby becomes startled by Neo-Roman’s presence beside her and falls to the floor)
Neo-Roman: You’re the one following a talking cat around a fairy tale. *walks away from Ruby while twirling Melodic Cudgel and jumps onto the table as everyone stops laughing and stares at Ruby*
Neo-Roman: Reality’s gettin’ fuzzier by the minute, kid.
Ruby: *twirls Crescent Rose and changes it into it’s sniper gun form at Roman and the others*
Neo-Roman: Y’know once Neo realized where she was, everything changed. Always loved the idea of a place to run away from it all. Do whatever you want. *sits down cross-legged on the table between Lionheart and Clover as he picks up a tea cup* I offered that to her back on Remnant. *gives a frown* But we all remember how that ended.
Ruby: Is that seriously what this is all about? You still blame me for what happened to Torchwick?!
Neo-Roman: *growls*
Ruby: If you’re looking for an apology, you’ve wasted your time!
(On atop of the tea party room, Little arrives and watches)
Neo-Roman: They say everyone thinks they’re the hero of their own story.
(Everyone at the table gives a wry grin; their eyes change to Neo’s eye colors)
Neo-Roman: But… *stands up* I knew what I was. And deep down, I think you know you are too.
(Neo-Roman steps onto the teacup containing multi-colored liquid, breaking it with his shoe, as he walks towards Ruby. He takes out a multi-colored leaf in his hand)
Ruby: The leaves from the Tree?
Neo-Roman: Oh, you’re familiar? How about a little reset?
Ruby: Is that what you want? Well, if you want me dead, then come get me!
Neo-Roman: *chuckles* You don’t deserve to die, Red. You deserve to be broken down… *casually releases the leaf* … Torn apart… wiped from existence.
(The multi-colored leaf falls into the teacup)

Courtney comes to help Ruby[]

(Ruby hears a sound behind her and turns around, aiming Crescent Rose at Neo. Neo jumps over Ruby as she blocks the potshots with Hush. As Neo flies over Ruby, Neo-Roman shoots at Ruby with Melodic Cudgel. Ruby is sent backwards away from the table. Neo-Roman catches Neo with a chuckle as everyone at the table applauds. Neo smiles at Neo-Roman before they both look down on Ruby. Neo-Roman places Neo to the ground)
Neo-Roman: I’m going to enjoy…
Everyone: *stands up from their seats* ...Watching you break.
(Everyone has their eyes closed with eerie smiles. Neo-Roman kneels behind Neo, who gives a closed-eye smile)
Courtney: You’ll have to deal with me first, Neo!
(Courtney shows up with her alicorn powers activated and the Scepter of Light in hand)
Courtney: The time has come to put an end to your evil trickery!
Neo-Roman: Well, if it isn’t Little Red’s dog.
Ruby: *turns to see Courtney*
Neo-Roman: I see you’ve gained your wings and your horn, took long enough. And I see you’re wielding a new crystal staff.
Courtney: *mad and offended by the fact that Neo-Roman called her Ruby’s dog* This is NOT a crystal staff. It’s the Scepter of Light! And I’m gonna use it to defeat you!
Neo-Roman: I’d like to see you try. Go ahead, don’t hold back.
Courtney: Oh, don’t worry, I won’t. *uses the Scepter of Light* Glow!
(The bright glow blinds them as Courtney dodges a bullet from Melodic Cudgel)
Courtney: Blaze! *fires at Neo and her illusions*
(Neo uses her umbrella; Hush to protect herself from the Blaze attack)
Courtney: *goes over to Ruby and protects her while pointing the scepter at Neo and her illusions and glaring angrily at them*
Ruby: Courtney! You were supposed to stay put!
Courtney: *turns to Ruby* Since when do I ever listen? I couldn’t just stay there, I had to come after you. *sees another attack!* Look out! *gets Ruby out of the way and looks at the scepter* I hope this works on the both of us. *grabs Ruby’s hand as they get up and points the Scepter towards her* Vanish!
(The Scepter makes them turn invisible but Courtney’s Pup Tag was seen!)
Neo-Roman: Looks like you haven’t mastered that power yet. *fires Melodic Cudgel at Courtney*
Courtney: *grunts after being shot back as she and Ruby become visible*
Ruby: Courtney!
Courtney: *gets up and shakes herself off as she puts the scepter back on her belt and stands her ground*
Ruby: *stands in front of her to protect her while brandishing her weapon* Courtney, get out of here! Run!
Courtney: No! I won’t leave you! The multiverse is my home and you’re a part of my family!
(Suddenly, Courtney’s alicorn magic begins to glow)
Courtney: I- *gets a determined look* I’m a huntress too!!! *jumps in front of Ruby and uses her magic to conjure up a shield to protect herself and Ruby from the attacks of Neo’s illusions*
(The magic shield dissolves as Courtney collapses to the floor after using her magic to conjure up that shield)
Ruby: Courtney, you have to run! I’m not gonna let you risk your life for me!
Courtney: *gets up* I already told you. I’m not leaving you! And I won’t let you risk your life for me either!

Weiss, Blake, Yang, and Jaune search for Ruby and Courtney[]

(Elsewhere in the forest area of Origami Acre…)
Jaune: *offscreen* Ruby! Courtney!
(Jaune, Juniper, Yang, Weiss and Blake are searching for Ruby and Courtney)
Weiss: Ruby. Courtney. Ruby…? Courtney…?
Yang: *stops walking and sighs* Damn it! How can she just run off like that?!
Blake: She was clearly upset.
Yang: That wasn’t upset! That was… Ugh! She could’ve talked to us! And Courtney, she shouldn’t have run off too!
Weiss: Maybe she didn’t feel like she could… Ruby has always been the one to get us through the hard times. We say things like “We believe in you”, “We can count on you”. I know we mean well, but… And Courtney… she has known Ruby since the first day she came to Beacon. She really cares for her… Just like us…
(Jaune feels guilty over what he said to Ruby and Courtney back then. Juniper becomes sad and Jaune comforts her with a pat)
Yang: It’s not like we’re asking her to be perfect.
(They hear something and look at to in a certain direction)

Ruby and Courtney vs Neo and her illusions[]

(Ruby uses her semblance to dodge the attacks and Courtney flies to dodge the attacks as well from Neo-Penny, Neo-Pyrrha, Neo-Lionheart and Neo-Ironwood with their weapons while Roman, Neo, Neo-Ozpin and Neo-Clover are watching)
Neo-Ironwood: Who were you to think you knew what was best for Atlas?
Neo-Pyrrha: I was the best and brightest Beacon had to offer.
(Ruby gets shot down and clings onto the chandelier)
Neo-Pyrrha: But, I traded my life so that my friends could live!
(Neo-Pyrrha throws Miló javelin at the chain of the chandelier to break it)
Ruby: *screams as she falls*
Courtney: Ruby!! *flies down fast and uses herself as a cushion to break her fall*
(The impact causes them to break their Auras)
Courtney: *groans in pain* I’m gonna be sore in the morning…
(She gets up to try and reach for Crescent Rose, but is stopped by Neo-Penny’s Maiden powered Floating Array. Ruby and Courtney look back at her)
Neo-Penny: Just like you were too late to save me at the Vytal Festival… I died in Atlas too… didn’t I? *walks towards Ruby* Can you imagine what that's like? To be completely and utterly failed... time and again... *kneels down to Ruby* by someone who meant the world to you…
Ruby: *on the verge of tears*
(Suddenly, Neo-Roman uses the curved end of Melodic Cudgel to choke her from behind)
Neo-Roman: You ready for that drink yet?
Courtney: *barks angrily and bites his ankle to distract him*
Neo-Roman: Dah! *looks down to see Courtney biting him*
Courtney: *growls angrily at him while biting his ankle*
(Ruby manages to break free from Neo-Roman’s choking grip after Courtney distracted him and runs over to her weapon but gets attacked by Neo-Pyrrha)
Neo-Pyrrha: How many more people are going to die because of you?!
(Neo-Pyrrha swings her body around Miló javelin and delivers a kick at Ruby, sending her to the wall. She struggles to walk along it)
Ruby: I’m trying to save everyone!
(Ruby gets punched in the gut by Neo-Ironwood, who then pins her to the wall)
Neo-Ironwood: And yet with all your best intentions…
(Little gasps in shock, watching Ruby getting overwhelmed)
Neo-Ironwood: Have you ever stopped to wonder if you’d done more harm than good?!
(Neo-Ironwood throws Ruby to the floor)
Ruby: It’s not my fault…! *attempts to grab her weapon*
(She gets hit by Neo-Ozpin’s weapon; The Long Memory)
Courtney: Ruby!! *runs over to her and uses herself as a shield as she gets beaten by Neo-Ozpin*
Ruby: *horrified that Courtney is getting brutally beaten while protecting her*
Neo-Ozpin: How many more lives do you have to ruin before you realize you’re not cut out to save anyone?!
(Courtney was getting bruised, badly and she had a bloody nose along with a black eye)
Ruby: Courtney! It’s…
Courtney: *to Ruby* Don’t worry… As long as you’re okay, that’s all that matters… *to Neo-Ozpin* That’s not TRUE!!! Ozpin would never say something like that! No one would! *grunts after being hit a few feet away by Neo-Ozpin and barks in pain*
Ruby: *grabs Crescent Rose and slashes Neo-Ozpin* NO!!!
(The Long Memory falls to the floor. Ruby becomes horrified to see that she slashes Neo-Oscar Pine in Neo-Ozpin’s place)
Neo-Oscar: *stares at his hand tainted with his own blood* Ruby…
(Neo-Oscar falls backwards and dies. Ruby drops Crescent Rose and collapses on her knees. Neo-Penny and Neo-Clover approach Neo-Oscar’s corpse. Neo-Penny, covering her mouth in shock, then changes to Neo-Yang. Neo-Clover changes to Neo-Qrow now horrified over Neo-Oscar’s “death”. Neo-Lionheart changes to Neo-Blake looking at Ruby in disbelief. Neo-Ironwood changes to Neo-Weiss looking down at Ruby)
Neo-Roman: Do you really think you can stand to watch more of your friends fall?
Ruby: Please… stop…
Neo-Roman: Or are you ready to admit the truth? That the world would just be better off without you?
(Neo-Jaune appears in Neo-Pyrrha’s place with Neo-Nora and Neo-Ren, mourning over Neo-Oscar. Ruby begins to hyperventilate in fear and panic as Neo-Jaune, Neo-Ren and Neo-Nora join the others. Ruby breaks down in broken sobs, placing her head and hands to the floor)
Courtney: *gets up as she shakes herself off and goes to Ruby’s side* Ruby, don’t listen! It’s not real, none of it is! Neo is just trying to break you down!
(Neo carries the teacup and approaches Ruby)
Courtney: *growls angrily at Neo and protects Ruby*
(She places down the teacup and moves it with her boot towards Ruby. Ruby lifts her head slowly, staring at the teacup filled with a multi-colored liquid)
Neo: *gives another teacup to Courtney*
Courtney: *looks at the multi-colored liquid in the teacup and then looks at Neo* No way I’m not drinking that! It’s changing colors! *unsheathes her claws as she smacks the teacup away and it breaks, spilling the multi-colored liquid on the ground* There’s nothing you can do to convince me!
(Neo kneels down in front of Courtney and uses her semblance to transform into her adoptive mother; Aqua)
Courtney: Aw, come on! That’s not fair! I’m not falling for that old trick! *stands her ground* You’re just trying to trick me so you can make me feel vulnerable.
(Neo switches her eyes to Aqua's blue eyes as she holds out her hand towards Courtney)
Courtney: *her ears drop down as she looks at her hand and is about to grab it until she pulls her paw back* No! I will not be convinced by you! My mother would want me to keep going, even though times were tough! I've become a part of her heart just like she has become a part of mine! My friends and my family are my power and I'm theirs!

Courtney vs the Curious Cat/Ruby ascends to the Great Tree[]

(Ruby, in her perspective of view, slowly opens her eyes. A hole of the manor is shown with the Great Tree in the background. She then blinks and opens to multi-colored leaf brewing in the teacup. She later blinks to see the Cat)
Curious Cat: It’s all right, Ruby. It’s over now.
Ruby: What? I’m sorry… *moves her body over* I don’t want to be me anymore…
(Ruby softly sobs, the Cat rubs their paw on her shoulder)
Curious Cat: It’s okay, little Huntress… *jumps onto Ruby’s torso* I can be you instead…
(Ruby opens her eyes in realization)
Curious Cat: *chuckles* I have been trying to wear you down for so long!
(The Curious Cat phases their paws through Ruby’s chest, causing her to scream in pain and agony)
Ruby: What are you… doing?! *gasps*
Curious Cat: My purpose. When a poor little heart is broken, I can fill it with mine. I’m afraid I haven’t been entirely honest with you, Ruby. *bares their fangs*
Ruby: No!
Courtney: *gets up in a dizzy manner after being knocked out by Neo as she sees the Curious Cat trying to possess her big sister as she grits her teeth angrily and clenches her fist* NO!!!! *gets up and charges towards the cat*
Curious Cat: I’m not like the other Afterans here, I’m cursed with curiosity. I need to know everything! *their eyes turn black* But more than anything, I need to know why my makers left me here… *hisses* Only to leave and make all of--
(Before the Curious Cat could possess Ruby, a magic beam blasts them off Ruby as Courtney stands between her friend and the cat with her alicorn magic still activated)
Curious Cat: *gets up as they were shocked and surprised by Courtney’s presence*
Courtney: *snarls angrily at the Curious Cat, dubbed as Chief Zephyr* TRAITOR!!! *charges towards the cat*
Curious Cat: *charges towards Courtney*
(They claw at each other as Courtney dodges their claws and punches them across the face to knock them back)
Curious Cat: *shakes themselves off as they stand up*
Courtney: I knew I shouldn’t have trusted you, you mangy feline! Jaune was right all along!
Curious Cat: I suggest that you step aside, little princess. Unless you want to get hurt as well… *bares their fangs*
Courtney: *stands her ground and protects Ruby* No way! I am not letting you take Ruby away from me! I am not losing her, just like my adoptive family!
Curious Cat: Then so be it. You’ve made your choice and you should suffer the same fate as my so-called "friends"…
Courtney: *sees the Curious Cat as Braig, glares angrily and her eyes turn into King Sombra’s as she stands her ground, dubbed as her adoptive mother; Aqua* Go ahead if you want to waste your time. Keep trying to drive us apart with your mind games, it’ll never work! My papa will prove to you he’s stronger! *spreads her wings out and charges towards the Curious Cat*
Ruby: Courtney!
(Courtney fights off the Curious Cat in order to protect Ruby. She was dodging the Cat’s claws to avoid getting scratched by them)
Courtney: Is that the best you can do?! That was nothing!
Curious Cat: *hisses at Courtney and pounces towards her*
Courtney: *uses her copycat semblance to copy Blake’s semblance to dodge the cat, bails her paws together and hits them in the back to knock them to the ground as she glares angrily at them*
Curious Cat: *hisses at her after getting up as they pounce on her and bite her on the neck, hard*
Courtney: Agh!! *punches the Cat to get them off as she holds her neck in pain and the bite mark was bleeding while wincing in so much pain*
(A drop of blood from the bite mark drops on the floor as Courtney pants heavily and glares at the cat in hatred and anger but starts to collapse due to blood loss)
Curious Cat: *approaches her* Are you going to step aside? Or do you want more?
Ruby: Courtney, run! Save yourself! Don’t worry about me!
Courtney: No!! I would never do that! *gets up, weakly* No matter how beat up this body gets… I will never give up! NEVER! *throws a punch towards the Curious Cat with her blood covered paw*
(The Curious Cat jumps over Courtney to dodge and lands on her back as they run their claws down her shoulder blades)
Courtney: *grunts in pain after being scratched as she flies backwards and hits the Curious Cat against the wall but the Cat disappears*
Curious Cat: *laughs maniacally*
Courtney: *looks around for the cat* It’s not over!
Curious Cat: Of course it’s not! *lands on her back and scratches her across her cheek*
Courtney: *screams in pain and holds her cheek*
Curious Cat: *hiding somewhere* I won’t stop until I have your big "sister". I won’t stop until she takes me back to Remnant with her! And you’ll realize that you are not cut out to save anyone like your so-called adoptive "family".
(Suddenly, something snaps inside of Courtney as her alicorn magic lights up and fires a magic beam at where the cat is hiding as they get knocked to the ground)
Courtney: *grabs the cat by the neck and slams them against the wall* ENOUGH!!! It’s over!
(While Courtney was holding the Curious Cat against the wall, Little runs over to Ruby)
Little: Ruby! *grabs her finger and tries to help her up* You have to get up. We have to go!
Neo: *stomps on Little, killing them*
Courtney: *sees this* Little!! *turns to the cat* I’ll deal with you later! *lets the cat go and runs over to her mouse guide and big sister as she bites Neo on the arm in retaliation for killing her little friend while snarling angrily at her*
Neo: *shakes Courtney off her arm*
Courtney: Whoa! *lands on the floor and sees Neo holding her umbrella; Hush* …!
Neo: *swats her away, hard with Hush*
Courtney: *grunts after being swatted away a few inches near the exit by Neo and barks in pain*
(Ruby becomes utterly horrified after she saw Neo kill Little in front of her and swatting her little sister back as the teacup slides in front of her)
Neo-Roman: Hmph. I think it’s about time we all got what we deserve.
Ruby: *moves her body towards the teacup*
Courtney: *gets up, weakly while holding the bloody bite mark in pain* No… No, Ruby…
(Weiss, Blake, Yang, Jaune and Juniper finally arrive only to see Neo looking down on the wounded Ruby)
Neo-Roman: *voiceover* Are you ready to admit the truth? That the world would just be better off without you?
(Ruby stares at her teammates, Jaune and Juniper. She then slowly picks up the teacup in her hands. She gives them one last look. Yang watches in shock as Ruby drinks the entire tea. Ruby drops the teacup and lies there)
Yang: *muted* Ruby?
(A hole appears below Ruby and she falls into it along with Little and Crescent Rose, engulfed in a bright light)
Courtney: *sheds some tears after seeing this, dubbed as Young Simba* NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! *tries to fly over to the hole where Ruby ascended*
Weiss: *holds Courtney back to prevent her from diving into the hole* Courtney, no!
Courtney: *tries to get out of Weiss’ grip* Weiss, let go! *tries to get over the hole but she suddenly starts crying after failing to save her big sister just like when she failed to save her adoptive family from Xehanort and Vanitas as she howls in sadness*
Neo: *stunned after seeing Ruby ascend*
Neo-Roman: *voice* You’ve finally done it!
(The manor starts to crumble)
Neo-Roman: *voice* Little Red’s gone. With your semblance stronger than ever now, we can take over this whole absurd place!
Neo: *shuts her eyes and nods no*
Neo-Roman: *voice* Why not? Offing Little Red can’t be all you wanted, right?

Courtney's emotion magic goes haywire/The Curious Cat possesses Neo[]

(Yang, Weiss, and Blake were shocked after seeing Ruby ascend to the Great Tree as Jaune looks on, solemnly)
Curious Cat: No, no, no, no! *runs towards the hole where Ruby ascended* I needed her! *scratches the vines*
Courtney: *breathing heavily as she looks at an emotionless and broken Neo with angry tears in her eyes after she saw Ruby ascend to the Great Tree and turns to face her* HOW COULD YOU?!
Neo: *backs away as she tries to tell her to calm down*
Courtney: *grits her teeth and narrows her eyes at Neo while glaring angrily at her*
(Suddenly, Courtney's horn turns orange meaning that she’s angry and everything in the mansion starts shaking)
Jaune: *looks around*
Weiss: Uh, what’s happening?
(Everything in the mansion was lifted by Courtney’s emotion magic and the paintings were spinning while the teacups hit the ceiling and break)
Curious Cat: *still clawing at the vines covering the hole where Ruby ascended until they get lifted by Courtney’s emotion magic* Agh!!
Courtney: *marches right over to Neo, furiously*
Neo: *backs away from a furious Courtney*
(Yang and Blake knew that they had to calm Courtney down to stop the emotion magic from destroying anything else in the mansion)
Blake: *runs over to Courtney with Yang and gets in front of her* Courtney, calm down!
Courtney: Blake! Yang! Move out of the way!
Yang: *puts her robotic hand on her shoulder* Courtney, you have to stop this!
Blake: Remember… *sings "Love Always"* May you always know the love that shines from deep inside. In your darkest hour, it will be your guide.
Courtney and Blake: *sings* May it’s golden rays light your nights and days. And fill your heart to overflow with love always.
(The song calms Courtney down as her emotion magic dies down and everything was dropped including the Curious Cat who lands on their feet)
Yang: *sighs in relief*
Courtney: *shedding tears while breathing heavily in sadness* I’m sorry… I don’t know what came over me… I’m sorry…! *breaks down while crying and covering her face with her paws as her horn turns blue*
Yang: *picks up her little sister*
Blake: Courtney…
(Yang and Blake hug Courtney to comfort her as she still continues to cry about Ruby and the Curious Cat sneers at the broken, emotionless Neo)
Jaune: *points his sword at the Curious Cat* Take us to her…

(Weiss, Blake, Yang, and Courtney watch the manor continuing to crumble with large cracks on the walls)
Curious Cat: But no matter… *turns to Neo* I’ve actually found a much better solution to my problem.
(The Cat gives a powerful roaring beam at Jaune, Weiss, Blake, Yang, and Courtney. Weiss, Blake, Yang and Courtney are sent flying backwards, crashing against the walls. Jaune lands onto Juniper, who catches him in time. The Cat’s form begins to grow bigger with their colors changing to white with clear black square patterns. The Cat flies towards Neo)
Curious Cat: You’ve lost something most important, haven’t you? And now you have nothing left. *chuckles* How delightful! An empty host, perfect for me to fill.
(Neo widens her eyes in utter shock as the Cat forces her mouth open and dives inside of her. Jaune regains his posture before turns around to see the Cat attempting to take over Neo’s body, to his shock)
Jaune: *runs to stop the Cat* No!
(Neo’s eyes begin to turn into the Cat’s checkered-pattern design as the Cat continues to take over her body. Jaune runs as fast as he can, jumps and grabs the Cat’s tail but fails as the Cat is already completely inside Neo’s body. Jaune glares as Neo goes unconscious temporarily after the Cat takes over her. Weiss slowly gets up after she recovers. Yang helps Blake up slowly before they both look on as Courtney shakes herself off after getting up)
NeoCat: *sighs* The Rusted Knight. Goodness, am I tired of your little sob story. *slowly stands up from their seat* You can’t even accept your own futility.
(Neo, now possessed by the Cat, reveals her face with a monstrous smile. The sclera of her eyes turn light blue with cat-like pupils. Her teeth are now sharp feline-like. Jaune is taken aback over NeoCat’s visage. NeoCat looks at themself)
NeoCat: This body will do.
(Combined with the Cat’s powers and Neo’s Semblance, NeoCat turns themself into something similar to Ruby’s Semblance and flies out of the manor, heading towards the Great Tree)
Courtney: Wait! Come back! *tries to go after NeoCat but falls down in pain from her fight against the cat and getting bruised by Neo’s clones* I’m not through with you!! *spreads her wings out and tries to fly but she barely gets herself off the floor*
Yang: *helps Courtney up along with Blake* Courtney, wait!
Blake: Don’t move, you’re hurt.
Courtney: *squirms out of their grip* Let me go! I need to go after them! *grunts in pain as she falls to the floor*
Blake: You’re not going anywhere. Not until you rest.
Courtney: *gets up* I’m sorry… I let my anger get the best of me… I could’ve stopped Neo but I was- *growls in frustration* I had to go after that cat! A-And Ruby…! *starts crying* I failed… I failed to save her…! It’s all my fault… *continues to cry*
Blake: *hugs her little sister to comfort her* Courtney…
Yang: Also, you were right about the cat. We should’ve listened to you. We’re sorry…
Courtney: *wipes off her tears* It’s not your fault or any of you guys’ fault. The cat fooled us all!

Quita Moz appears[]

(Blake helps Courtney off Juniper the jackalope after escaping the crumbling manor in the Abandoned Acre)
Courtney: *her bite mark and scratches from her fight with the Curious Cat were covered in bandages* Now that the Curious Cat has possessed Neo and Ruby has ascended to the Great Tree, we are all in danger. What are we gonna do?
(They look down in sadness until they saw Quita Moz appear! Blake, Yang, Weiss, Jaune, and Juniper were amazed and surprised by this)
Courtney: Quita Moz?
Quita Moz: *lands in front of the group* Princess Courtney. The flames told me what happened.
Courtney: So now you know… Ruby’s gone and I failed… *her ears drop down in sadness as she looked down*
Quita Moz: Yes. Yes, you lost this round. *lifts her face* But, the struggle is not over. You can still defeat the Curious Cat and find Ruby if you trust in the powers of your alicorn magic.
Courtney: Can you show me?
Quita Moz: *lowers his head and allows her to climb onto his back* Climb on.
Courtney: *gets up on his back*
Blake: Courtney. Be careful.
Yang: We’re all rooting for you.
Courtney: *nods yes and turns to Quita Moz* Let’s do this. For Vallestrella!
(Quita Moz flies up)

Epilogue: The Next Right Thing[]

(After Courtney has completed her training, she was lying down in a dark cave with her alicorn magic still activated, crying because she failed to save her big sister; Ruby)
Courtney: *sings while shedding tears* I've seen dark before, but not like this. This is cold, this is empty, this is numb… The life I knew is over, the lights are out… Hello, darkness… I’m ready to succumb… *turns her body around* I follow you around, I always have. But, you’ve gone to a place I cannot find. This grief has a gravity, it pulls me down… But a tiny voice whispers in my mind… "You are lost. Hope is gone. But, you must go on… And do the next right thing" *gets up by flapping her wings a bit* Can there be a day beyond this night? I don’t know anymore what is true… I can’t find my direction I’m all alone… *remembers Ruby’s face* The only star that guided me was you. How to rise from the floor when it’s not you I’m rising for? Just do the next right thing. Take a step. *steps forward* Step again. *steps forward again as she walks towards the rock wall* It is all that I can to do the next right thing. *climbs up the wall* I won’t look too far ahead. It’s too much for me to take… *stands and sees that she needs to take a leap of faith* But, break it down to this next breath… This next step… This next choice… is one that I can make. *jumps across and lands on the other side as she gets up* So, I’ll walk through this night… *heads towards the exit of the cave* Stumbling blindly toward the light… *exits the cave and covers her eyes with her wing* And do the next right thing… *lowers her wing and heads towards a cliff* And with the dawn… What comes then? When it’s clear that everything will never be the same again? Then, I’ll make the choice… To hear that voice… And do the next right thing. *looks at the Great Tree in the distance*
